Online order delivered within 90 minutes

The British retail chain Argos has teamed up with delivery service Shutl. This allows online shoppers in London to get their online purchases delivered within ninety minutes.

Shutl was launched last year by Tom Allasson, with support from Simon Murdoch, former director of Amazon Europe. Shutl is supposed to let the item "delivery" grow along with the development of e-commerce in general.

Three reasons for the rapid delivery options
Murdoch and Allasson bring on three reasons for the rapid delivery options of Shutl. Firstly, companies who deliver on the same day work more efficiently than firms that focus on multi-day delivery. Secondly, the formula benefits from volume discounts on the prices of carriers. And finally Shutl appeals especially to their last minute residual capacity, which keeps prices low.

The founders think of Shutl as "a significant game changer for e-commerce", because it gives more power to multichannel retailers. The delivery service offers its services only to online retailers with stores less than ten miles from the customer.

Argos first major customer Shutl

Argos is the first big customer that delivers with Shutl. "From every perspective, Argos is the right partner for us, with its customers, systems and extensive sales network," said Allison. "But we are still at a very early stage. While I can not understand why people choose to wait for a delivery, we know we still have a lot to prove."

Delivery outside London

As of yet only people in London can opt for delivery via Shutl. They pay £ 4.95 for delivery within ninety minutes ('Shutl Now") and the same amount for delivery in a delivery window of one hour ("Shutl Later"). In about one year residents of other major British cities must also be able to choose for Shutl when they buy from Argos.co.uk
